On July 25-27 BDVS organised a training program on creative writing. In spite of the rainy days, 25 Dalit youth aspirants who will take on the role of ‘journalists’ for ‘Youth news and views’ magazine of Ambedkar Yuva Manch came for the training with a view improve their writing skills.

The three day residential training began on 25th July morning. The participants came from two regional units of BDVS. They were between the ages of 19 and 25.

Mr. Anish Ankur and Virendra Kumar were the resource persons, who have 15 years of experience in media training.

During the sessions participants were taught about the script design, forming headlines, news analysis and creative meditation. Participants were facilitated to write the news, poems, stories, incidents, headlines and designs. Participants also taught about the proper use of language. In every session participant’s copies were verified and their progress was monitored.

The program was not limited to above mentioned points but participants were also encouraged to contribute something to their communities through their writing. All of them were encouraged to notice the situations and incidents of nearby villages along with their own villages and write reports on these incidents.

The program was based on encouraging youths in writing ability. They have started youth news and views magazine and they should continue to write for this after all this magazine belongs to them and they are owners of this magazine. We hope they shall be instrumental for Ambedkar Yuva Manch in promoting Dalit literature.
